More Toothbrushes or Mobile Phones?



You better get on the bandwagon mobile is changing the way people interact and shop. Make no mistake about it. Mobile is not a marketing trend. It is an imperative. My next two post will cover mobile marketing and how to optimize your website for mobile users. Lets start out with a few statistics that should get your attention.

4 billion people use mobile devices… 3.5 Billion use toothbrushes…hmm…that taxi cab driver in New York last week had six phones and definitely didn’t brush…


By 2013 it is predicted that more people will access the Internet via mobiles and tablets than desktops and laptops.

91% of US adults have a mobile phone

25% of Americans only use mobile to access the Internet

90% of text messages are read within 3 minutes

9 out of 10 mobile searches lead to action over half lead to a purchase

Mobile coupons are redeemed at a rate of 10 times greater than print coupons

38% of our daily interactions are done on mobile phones

Where are mobile phones used: 72% while travelling, 63% while shopping, 47% in car,64% at work

Where are tablets used: 88% in living room, 24% at work, 29% in bedroom

Local mobile ad spending will outpace national advertising in 2013

60% of Americans watch TV and access the net simultaneously.

600 Million of Facebook’s 1 billion users are mobile 150 million in USA active Facebook users accessing through mobile and they are twice as active as non-mobile users

Twitter is now saying that 60 percent of its 140-million- person active user base accesses the service via mobile devices.
